Southern Philippines Hit by Deep 6.1 Earthquake Off Davao Oriental

 A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Davao Oriental, Philippines on Friday, March 8th, 2024. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported the quake hit at a depth of 105 kilometers, around 149 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso town.

 While the tremor was strong, Phivolcs expects no damage due to the depth. Aftershocks are possible, however. This earthquake follows two other moderate quakes that struck Davao Oriental on Thursday, March 7th.
