Million Expected at INC's National Rally for Peace Amidst Political Tensions

Manila, Philippines – The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) is gearing up for a large National Rally for Peace at the Quirino Grandstand tomorrow, January 13, 2025. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is expecting around one million participants, marking it as a significant event in the capital.

This rally takes place during a time of increased political tension in the Philippines, leading the INC to advocate for unity and peace. Sagip Party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta, a key figure in the INC, highlighted that the church maintains a neutral stance regarding the rumored discord between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte. "We hope to see them collaborating for the benefit of the country," Marcoleta remarked.

The scale of the event has led to thorough preparations by various government agencies. The MMDA has collaborated with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to establish traffic management plans and ensure public safety. There will be several road closures and traffic diversions around the Quirino Grandstand area, and motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes and anticipate possible delays.

To mitigate the impact on daily life, local authorities have declared the suspension of classes at all levels and government work in both Pasay and Manila on January 13. This decision aims to reduce disruption and facilitate smoother traffic flow during the rally.

The INC's National Rally for Peace serves not only as a demonstration of the church's influence but also as a call for national unity amid political uncertainty. The event's success hinges on the effective coordination of various agencies and the public's cooperation in following traffic advisories. As the nation observes, the rally is set to make a strong statement about the significance of peace and solidarity in the Philippines.
